Fine Arts:

Our college students took part in many cultural events and competitions and won prizes in Bardfest, Signet, Pushpamala, Peacock fest competitions ect.,

Our students V. Durgadevi, II (Maths) and R.S. Muthukumar won third prize Rs.2000/- and the fourth prize Rs.1000/- respectively in “Kavidhai Oppuviththal” competition, at the inter collegiate district level competition held at Thiruvarur.

Our student P. Rekha won first prize in the Oral competition. R. Radhakrishnan and S. Ilayaraja won the first and third prizes respectively in the Written competition. G. Suresh and L. Sureshkanna won first and third prize respectively, in the competition organized by Rajivgandhi Non-Renewable Energy Sources among the Colleges in the district.

Our student R. Radhakrishnan who bagged the first prize in the Written competition of Rajivgandhi Non-Renewable Energy Sources at the district level was selected for the State level competitions in which also he won the first prize.

Our college student won first prize in Rangoli and Mime , won second prize in Drawing, Group songs, Quiz competition, Village dance, won third prize in Poet competition and got a cup at Peacock fest-04 in A.V.C. College - Mailaduthurai.
Our college students won first prize in Mime competition at Pushpamala2005 in Poondi Sri Pushpam College.
Our college students won third pize in Western Dance competition at Pushpamala2005 in Poondi Sri Pushpam College.
Our college student G. Suresh, III B.A.,(Eco), Sivakumar, I M.A., (His) and won in some speech competition our student Muthukumar I M.A., (His).
Novelty in creativity : Replica of Taj Mahal in rice

Our college second year BA Economics student K. Chandra Mohan, has brought laurels to his alma mater by creating an image of Taj Mahal, using rice. Thus was born the eye-catching image of the Taj, molded by mixing 14kg of rice and pasting gum, a fruit of the labor of 45 days.

English Club
In a bid to improve flair for the English Language and fluency in speaking it. Thiru. Vi. Ka. Government Arts College, Tiruvarur, has started an English Club (03.10.2005). In his inaugural address, Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose College, Principal V. Janakiraman observed. "The more we use English, the more we become proficient in the language". College Principal Pirai. Arivazhagan advised the students to actively take part in all the activities of the club. V. Janakiraman pointed out that English Language is required for communication and so it is always better to master it. Earlier Prof. Dr. R. Kaladharan, HOD, Engish in his welcome address outlined the proposed activities of the club and exhorted the students to join the club and get benefitted. Senior Lecturer, S. Mohandas proposed a vote of thanks.
Red Ribbon Club
The inaugural function of the Red Ribbon Club was held on 26th October 2005. It was jointly organised by the AIDS Control Society of the Tamilnadu Government, Youth Red Cross Club and the National Service Scheme of the College. Prof.Dr.Pirai.Arivazhagan, Principal i/c presided. Dr. R. Anandaraj, Joint Director of Health Services inaugurated the activities of the club. Prof.M.Balasubramanian, HOD of Physics, Dr.A.John Peter, HOD of Tamil and Thiru. Varadarajan, Secretory, Red Cross District Co-ordinator spoke an AIDS awareness among the students. Dr.P.Tamilarasan spoke on the AIDS and there was an interactive session in which students took an active part and got their doubts cleared. Prof.V.Vivekanandam, Co-ordinator of the club welcomed all and Prof.Dr.C.TamilSelvi, NSS Officer, proposed a vote of thanks.
